Mlm or Network Marketing Leadership – The 5 Levels of Leadership

Would you like to have life changing growth in your mlm or network marketing business? Of course you would. Imagine the benefits of a large business:

1. Growing residual income. You know what I mean, paychecks that get bigger each and every month, regardless of whether you continue to sponsor people.

2. Time Freedom. Can you imagine this? Imagine not having to be at work at a certain time and leave at a certain time. Imagine the ability to come and go as you please. The ability to go on vacation for 2, 3 or even 6 weeks at a time.

3. Respect. When you have the two things above, how do you think people will consider your life? They may not have the same drive or ability to accomplish it, but they sure will respect your success, even if it’s pure jealousy from your achievement. Imagine how your own family will feel about your accomplishments. They will directly benefit from what you do.

This article is not about the benefits of mlm or network marketing, but just the few above are enticing enough to help you continue the process.

Listen closely. If you want the things above, you must not leave out a very important part. If you fail to do this, you will not succeed, period.

You must become a leader.

Leadership, according to John Maxwell, is influence. Leading is nothing more than gaining followers. Learn how to do this and you’ll succeed in your business. Fail to do this and you’ll spend years trying to build your business with little results.

Your income will grow in direct proportion to your ability to influence others.

In John Maxwell’s book, Developing the Leader Within You, 5 levels of leadership are presented. This article will briefly introduce each and they will be covered in detail in later lessons.

The 5 Levels of Leadership (Influence)

1. Position – This is the most basic level of leadership. In your business it’s the equivalent of your being a sponsor to another. That’s it. You are a sponsor, but this doesn’t guarantee that your new enrollee will follow your directions.

2. Permission – This stage is when people follow you not just because of your position. At this point they are following you voluntarily.

3. Production – At this point, people are following you voluntarily and things are starting to take off. Your people are sponsoring others and the group is starting to grow.

4. People Development – People follow you because of what you’ve done for them and long range growth begins to occur. You have helped your people to grow as leaders who have achieved production from those they have sponsored.

5. Personhood – At this stage, people follow you because of who you are and what you represent. Few people reach this stage in their mlm or network marketing business. Those that do have organizations that never go away.
